      Mrs. Thos. Scott, William Street, Attains Ripe Old Age of 97 Years

      After an illness of two weeks duration the death occurred on Tuesday at midnight of Mrs. Thomas Scott, William Street - Ayr's oldest resident - in her 98th year. During the long period of her lifetime she had never been seriously ill until stricken with a stroke some two weeks ago. She put up a gallant fight for life, but could not overcome the handicap imposed by her burden of years. Mrs. Scott was born in England and came to Canada when quite young, settling in Ayr about sixty years ago. Since that time she had resided on William Street. She was well known and highly esteemed by many old friends, but most of the acquaintances of her younger days have long since gone the way of all flesh. Her husband, the late Thomas Scott, predeceased her some forty-five years ago. She is survived by the following sons and daughters: William, Brantford; Thomas, Henry, Christena and Mrs. Sarah Brown, Ayr. The funeral will take place to Ayr cemetery on Friday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock.

      Died In Ayr, on Tuesday, February 14th, 1928, at 11.10 p.m., Maria Bond, widow of the late Thomas Scott, aged 97 years. The funeral will take place from her late residence, William Street, on Friday February 17th, at 2.30 p.m., to the Ayr Cemetery.
