  Margaret Hagey (McLeod) Long time Ayr resident Margaret Hagey died at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, December 13, 2000. Mrs. Hagey was in her 93rd year. Born in South Dumfries Township she was daughter of the late Eva Hawes and William Turnbull. Mrs. Hagey was a member of United Brethren in Christ, New Dundee. She owned and operated McLeod's Grocery, corner of Northumberland and Hall Streets, in Ayr for several years prior to retirement. She was a former member of the Ayr Lawn Bowling Club and Ayr Women's Institute. Predeceased by her Husbands William McLeod in 1955 and Edward Hagey in 1996. She is survived by her children, Margaret and Bruce Ford of Ayr, William (Bud) and Donna McLeod of Cambridge, Dorothy and Bill Mitchell of Ayr and Inez McLeod of Paris; by ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; and by her sisters Helen Riddell and Marion and Earl Prike, all of Cambridge. In addition to her parents and husbands she was predeceased by her son Jim and sisters Bessie Stanley, Jean Farrell and brother Leslie Turnbull. Funeral service was held at Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home on Saturday, December 16 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Lloyd Fretz officiated. Spring interment will be in Ayr Cemetery. The Ayr News Dec 29 2000 pg 12
