Notes |
- Death of Georgina Matheson
The death occurred at the Galt Hospital on Friday of Georgina Matheson, one of Ayr's older residents, following an illness of two months.
Born in Canning 78 years ago, a daughter of the late George Matheson and Annie Murray, she moved to Ayr with the family some 70 years ago. For the past 40 years she had resided, along with her sister, Elizabeth, at their home on Northumberland street.
The late Miss Matheson was a member of the former Stanley Street Presbyterian Church and, following church union, remained with the present Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Miss Elizabeth, at home, and Mrs. Ben Crittenden (Nellie) of Glenavon, Sask.
The Funeral
The funeral was held from her late residence Monday afternoon, with Rev. W. J. McKeown conducting the service. The many beautiful floral tributes from far and near bespoke the esteem in which the deceased was held by a wide circle of friends. The pallbearers were: E. C. Krantz, William Irwin, G. S. Dalrymple, Clare Douglas, Arthur Hawes and Norman Morton.
