Notes |
- An Old Settler Dead-Last Friday one of the oldest settlers of this township, Mr. James Bailey, departed this life after a short illness. Deceased came to Woolwich Township many years ago, settling on a farm about two miles west of Elmira, now occupied by his nephew, Mr. Golwin Bulmer. He was of a hardy nature, very industrious and frugal, and possessing, many sterling traits of character. Up to several years ago he was hale and hearty and well able to perform the lighter duties on his farm. Of late he lived retired with his nephew, Mr. James DeKay, near Hawkesville, where he enjoyed his old years under the best of care. He reached the extraordinary age of 96 years, 10 months and 11 days. His remains were brought to the Elmira Union Cemetery last Monday, where they were interred.
