Notes |
- Four-and-a-half years after Denise Bourdeau, 39, vanished from a Waterloo restaurant, her former common-law partner has been charged in connection with her death. Waterloo Regional Police announced Thursday they had arrested David Robert Thomas, 48. He is charged with second-degree murder. "A 48-year-old resident of Waterloo was arrested at his place of employment in the city of Kitchener Wednesday afternoon," Insp. Greg Lamport said. "This has been a lengthy investigation and, in some cases, it takes this time to ensure you have all the information necessary before making an arrest." Bourdeau's body was found on the banks of the Grand River four months after she disappeared. Thomas, dressed in a denim shirt with his sleeves rolled up, made a brief appearance in Kitchener court Thursday and was remanded into custody. A man who identified himself as a family member of the accused was also seated in the courtroom. He declined to comment after the appearance concluded. A court order prohibits the publication of evidence in the case.....
