- Mrs. W. A. Matheson
Native of Ayr Passes in Winnipeg
Was Daughter of Late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Anderson - Mrs. William A. Matheson passed away at her home, Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg, Man. on Friday, October 9, 1942. The late Mrs. Matheson, whose maiden name was Jessie Anderson, was the youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Anderson of Ayr. She was a native of Ayr and was educated in schools in Ayr, Windsor and Toronto. For a number of years she taught school in Ayr, in Bolton and Winnipeg. In the latter city she was considered quite an outstanding teacher. Her husband, the late W. A. Matheson, general manager of the Lake of the Woods Milling Company and president of the Monarch Life Insurance Company, predeceased her. She was a member of Knox United Church, Winnipeg, and was greatly interested in the young girls of the church. She was also interested in the Girls' Welfare Society, the Old People's Home, and other organizations. Of a kindly disposition, she was beloved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends. She is survived by one brother, Robert F. Anderson of Los Angeles, California. The late Fergus Anderson of Ayr was also a brother. The funeral of the late Mrs. Matheson was held Tuesday afternoon from her late residence. Interment took place in Elmwood Cemetery, Winnipeg.
