    • Albert E. Lewis

A well-known and respected businessman of Elmira in the person of Albert Edward Lewis, merchant tailor, passed away at his home, 51 Arthur Street, on Saturday. Mr. Lewis had been ill from a complication of diseases for about three months. He was in his 59th year, having been born at Ayton in the year 1874 and for the past seventeen years has been a resident of Elmira.

Since coming to Elmira Mr. Lewis had been engaged in the tailoring business. He had been twice married, his first wife having died early in life, leaving one daughter, now Mrs. C. Rachar of Fergus. In 1904 at Toronto Mr. Lewis married Viola Keil of Moorefield, who survives him with a family of two daughters and three sons, namely, Miss Lena of Toronto, Miss Roberta and Edward, George and Clarence, at home. There are also three sisters and one brother, Mrs. M. Rosenberger and Miss K. Lewis of Kitchener, Mrs. Sinclair of Harriston and Mr. Victor Lewis of Mount Forest.

The funeral took place on Monday afternoon to the Elmira Cemetery, after a service at his late home on Arthur Street, conducted by the Rev. J. Ure Stewart, pastor of the Elmira United Church.

Among the out-of-town friends attending the funeral service were his eldest daughter, Mrs. C. Rachar of Fergus, Mr. and Mrs. V. Lewis and Mrs. Dowling of Mount Forest, Mrs. Rosenberger and sons Carmen, Harold and Charlie of Kitchener, Mr. and Mrs. George G. Class of Floradale, Mrs. J. Graham, Vera and Irvin of Moorefield and Mr Walter Tyson and Mr. Cameron Washburn of Kitchener.
