  Kitchener homicide victim is Conestoga College student, 18, from Toronto By Jeff Outhit Record Reporter KITCHENER - Police have identified an 18-year-old Toronto man as the victim of a homicide being investigated in Kitchener. His name is Joshua Bennett, 18. He attended Conestoga College and he's from the Etobicoke area of Toronto. "This senseless death has no place in our community," Chief Bryan Larkin said as police revealed his name. "I want to reassure the community that we have a dedicated team of highly skilled investigators who are working hard to find those responsible." Waterloo Regional Police released a photograph in consultation with the victim's family to aid in the investigation. Bennett was found dead early Friday morning near a trail behind a townhouse complex in the Paulander Drive area of Kitchener. An autopsy is scheduled today and police are treating his death as a homicide. Jeff Plantz said he was the one who came across Bennett around 1 a.m. Friday. He returned to the scene to talk with police later that morning to tell investigators what he saw. "There's a guy on the pathway and he's not moving," he said. Plantz and his friend used naloxone on the man several times, thinking maybe he had overdosed, But the temporary antidote to opioid poisoning had no effect, he said. Plantz said he then began knocking on doors to find someone who could call 911.
