Death of Mrs. Mier - Another old settler, Mrs. Mier, Greenfield, passed away on Monday, at the ripe age of 76 years. She had been ill for some time with la grippe, but was recovering and suddenly succumbed to heart failure. Deceased, whose maiden name was Christine R. Kicherer, was born in Stuggart, Germany. She came to America in 1852, settling in Buffalo, N.Y., for a year or two and thence to Blenheim where she lived continuously for over half a century, most of the time being spent just across the road from where she died. Before leaving Buffalo she was married to Charles Mier, who followed the trade of stone mason and bricklayer, and who died in 1883. Mrs. Mier was a member of the Lutheran church and was well-known in Ayr and surrounding country. A family of seven children survive her. They are: Mrs. Wm. Lockie, Roseville; Miss Janet, Davie and Mrs. Alex Gunn at Essex; Mrs. John Gun at Washington; John at Greenfield, and Rose at home. A sister, Mrs. John McEwen, resides at Durham, Ont., and several other sisters are located in the States. The funeral will take place from her late residence, Greenfield, at 2 o/clock this (Thursday) afternoon to Ayr cemetery.
