  Percy Hill the son of George Hill & Harriet Stevens. As a boy of twelve he began working in racing stables and graduated to riding the horses in steeplechases. His career was cut short in 1910 after suffering a spinal injury in a fall. He returned to horticulture and in 1912 came to Galt. He served in WWI. He became the superintendent of the Galt Parks Board in 1934 and remained in that position until his retirement in 1962. He landscaped the grounds around the Galt Cenotaph and other parks. He introduced the animal enclosure to Victoria Park which was moved to Churchill Park although smaller.
