- Spent Three-Quarters of a Century in the Community
The death of Andrew Renwick, which took place in Galt Hospital on Thursday evening, Nov. 18, at the age of 75 years, removes one of the pioneers of this section. The deceased was born in the township of North Dumfries, near Ayr, and spent all his life in this community, his long residence rendering him an authority on early days in the district. Nearly all his life he followed the occupation of a farmer and had many good traits that earned the esteem and respect of his neighbors. Of a quiet, unobtrusive disposition, coupled with good judgment and strict honesty he enjoyed the confidence and goodwill of a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, all of whom will regret to learn of his death. Mr. Renwick had never married. In politics he was a Conservative of the old school, and in religion a Presbyterian. One brother and one sister survive him. They are Mr. John Renwick in Howick and Mrs. Robert Ritchie in North Dumfries. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon from the residence of his nephew, Mr. Albert G. Ritchie, lot 26, con. 9, North Dumfries, interment being made in the Ayr cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. J. J. Brown, pastor of Knox United Church, Ayr.
