  AN OLD RESIDENT GONE - Mrs. Mary M. Patterson, mother of Mr. John Patterson, of Galt, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Watson, Kirkwall, on Saturday afternoon last. The deceased lady was in her 81st year. She was a native of Cumberland, England, and came with her husband and family to Canada in 1842. Shortly after landing in Canada, Mr. Patterson died. Mrs. Patterson then came on to Beverly, where she resided for about ten years, then removing to Galt, where she has continuously resided - being on a visit to her daughter when overtaken by her last illness. Mrs. Patterson was very much respected for her kindliness of heart and many Christian virtues. Besides Mr. John Patterson, of Galt, the surviving members of her family are Mr. Robert Patterson, of British Columbia, who for some years has been extensively engaged in the lumber trade there, and Mrs. Thos.
