Notes |
- Henry Karrow was one of our neighbours and he was the boy who took me to school with him the first day at S# S. No. 23 (probably In 1883). I remember one particularly cold winter morning when I nearly froze to death on my way to school but after I was laid behind the stove for a while I got thawed out.

"MY VALET."
Cleaning Business Forges Ahead Under Mr. Karrow.
Within the past few years the Berlin and Waterloo public have become familiar with a neat, little vehicle with glass sides, which darted hither and thither from day to day. It is the delivery waggon of "My Valet and represents the first serious attempt in the Twin City to give a thorough and up-to-date clothes cleaning service. Mr. V. M. Berlet began the business about five years ago. The present proprietor. Mr. H. Karrow, who took over the business September 1st, was with Mr. Berlet during the past three years and therefore has a thorough and practical grasp of all the details in cleaning and pressing clothes. He is a practical tailor skilled and experienced, a gentle man of strict integrity and one who can be depended upon to deal with the public fairly. All work entrusted to him receives the same careful and unremitting attention. A competent staff is employed and they are kept busy handling the ever-increasing business that comes to the firm. "My Valet" has the agency for the British American Dyeing Co., of Montreal, who are gold medalist dyers and cleaners. Any work that cannot be satisfac-torily handled in Berlin is sent to this firm, who are the Dominion's most expert dyers. All work sent to "My Valet" is guaranteed to come out in perfect condition. Mr. Karrow's place of business is at 147 King St. West, next door to King St. Baptist Church. Phone, 504.
