      Description: From a point in Lot 15, Concession 14, West Section, to Line 86 (Regional Road #86)

      In the first half of the 1900s, Wiebert [Wilbert] G. Sloman was a school teacher at Beechvale (SS#15) and Crosshill village schools, one of a small number of black residents in the Township. An earlier school inspection report dated June 15, 1875, noted that the Beechvale school is doing "fair work; trustees to level and fence in the ground." In that same report over at the Crossbill school, the trustees were proceeding with the erection of a fine school and two apartments and a large basement.

      7. Wilbert taught near London, Ontario then moved to Saskatchewan around 1924. He taught in rural school there until 1927. He married Emilie Ludwig of Grenfell Saskatchewan in 1925. They lived in Regina where Wilbert worked for the Post Office, rising through the ranks to become Public Relations Officer and finally head postmaster. He retired in 1957.       Sloman named as postmaster

      Wilbert George Sloman has been named Regina postmaster succeeding W. H. C. Sissons who will retire next March.

      Mr. Sloman is at present supervisor of terminal A on South Railway street and his duties as postmaster will commence March 24.

      He was born in London, Ont., in 1896 where he received his public school and high school education.

      In 1917 he joined the Royal Flying Corps and served a year as an instructor.

      After his discharge in 1918 he attended Toronto university for two years and obtained a teaching certificate and moved to Saskatchewan in 1921.

      In 1929 he took a civil service examination and began his career with the Regina post office in the parcel section and transfer staff.

      He was loaned to the army in 1940 to work with the postal corps at Dundurn and returned to the post office in 1945 when he became senior mail porter.

      In 1946 he was reclassified as postal supervisor Grade 1 and in 1947 became the first public relations officer to represent the post office in the Regina district.

      Mr. Sloman became supervisor in charge of forward despatch mail at terminal A in 1950 and has held the position since that date. He is a member of the Regina branch of the Canadian Legion and of the United Services Institute.

      Mr. Sissons, retiring postmaster, was born in Barrie, Ont, and came west with his parents in 1899.

      He received his education at Yellow Grass and at Owen Sound, Ont.

      He entered the postal service in Regina in 1911 and worked in various branches.

      In 1915 he was appointed senior postal clerk in charge of the money order branch and served in thir position for more than 20 years.

      He became supervisor of terminal A in 1936 and held the position until March. 1931, when he succended Len LaBelle as post master.

      Mr. Sissons intends to remain in Regina after his retirement and do some garderning, golfing and fishing. He also intends to travel.

      SLOMAN-on December 30, 1977, Mr. Wilbert (Burt) Sloman, beloved husband of Mrs. Amy Sloman, 23 - 471 Winnipeg Street, Penticton, B.C. formerly of Regina, passed away at the age of 81 years. Funeral services for the late Mr. Sloman were held on Monday, January 2, 1978 at the Penticton Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. G. Faraday officiating. Cremation. Besides his wife, Mr. Sloman is survived by a sister, Mildred - London, Ontario and a brother, Jack Sloman. Surrey, B.C.
