- Former Reidsville Resident - Death of John A. Henderson, Ingersoll, in His 71st Year - The death occurred at his home in Ingersoll late Wednesday night of John A. Henderson, a native of Reidsville, in his 71st year. Deceased had been in failing health for almost a year and had been confined to his bed for the past two weeks. He was born at Reidsville, where he remained until 1897, when he removed to Ingersoll. He returned the following year and was employed at the Reid sawmill for one year, after which he went back to Ingersoll, where he subsequently resided. Deceased had many relatives in this vicinity and made frequent visits to Ayr, the last being a few weeks previous to his demise. His widow, whose maiden name was Sarah Fairgrieve was a native of Ayr. The funeral took place to the Ayr Cemetery on Saturday afternoon. The following obituary notice is taken from the Ingersoll page of the Woodstock Sentinel - Review of Thursday - "The death occurred late last night of a widely-known and respected Ingersoll resident in the person of John A. Henderson, Wonham Street, in his 71st year. Deceased had been in failing health for almost a year, and had been confined to his bed for the past two weeks. "Mr. Henderson was born near Ayr, coming to Ingersol 36 years ago. He was engaged in the Borden Company factory here when it was constructed and has been in the employ of that firm practically ever since that time s engineer. He was with the firm at Aylmer for some time also. "Deceased was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church here, also of the I.O.F. and Samaritan Lodge, I.O.O.F. He was an ardent curler and bowler here for a considerable number of years. "Besides his widow, he is survived by three daughters and two sons as follows: Mrs. Earl Bowman, London; Mrs. H. R. Byerlay, Detroit; Miss Gladys, Ewart and Thomas, at home."
