Sudden Death of Mr. Alexander A. Keachie
Mr. Alexander A. Keachie a well-known farmer of the 9ch Con. North Dumfries, died very unexpectedly, at his residence at an early hour on Tuesday morning. Mr. Keachie was in his usual health on Sunday and attended service at the U. P. church on that day. On Monday morning he went about his ordinary farm duties, apparently as well as he had ever been. During the day he was seized with an attack of bowel complaint and was obliged to leave his work. No serious trouble, however, was anticipated till a late hour at night, when it was thought advisable to summon medical assistance. After the arrival of his physician, it was seen that death was rapidly approaching and that medical skill would be of no avail and at 4: 30 a. m. on Tuesday, he passed away. Heart failure is said to have been the immediate cause of death. Deceased was born on the farm at present, occupied by his brother Mr. Jas. A. Keachie and in early life settled on the farm occupied by him at the time of his death, which was then bush land. He was married to Miss Hannah Cornell, daughter of the late Enoch Cornell, who, together with a family of three sons and two daughters, survives him. His children are James of Blenheim, Enoch and Alexander in Manitoba, Mrs. Arthur Dale of Galt and Miss Lizzie Keachie, who resides at home. Deceased was a consistent member of the U. P. church and was very generally respected by all who knew him. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, to Mount View Cemetery, the very large number present, indicating the esteem in which he was held.
