- DIES AFTER ILLNESS OF SEVERAL MONTHS
John F. Murphy Contractor, Came To Ohio From Canada 54 Years Ago
Funeral services for John F. Murphy, 65, contractor, who died at Peoples hospital Monday night after an illness of more than three months caused by a tumor, will be held from the home at 737 Fern st., at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Burial at Lakewood cemetery.
Mr. Murphy was born near Toronto; Can., and came to this state when he was 20 years of age. He was an active contractor and builder and aided materially in the structural growth of the city, The Murphy lumber yard has been located at 760 Moon st., for a number of years.
He leaves his wife, Martha A. five daughters, Mrs. G. H. Stewart, Mrs. D. R. Carver, Mrs. W. W. Stockdale, D. G. Mitchell, and Miss Della Murphy, and two sons, E. L. Murphy and J. O. Murphy, all of Akron.
He also leaves 14 grand children. Rev. C. E. Stockdale of Frederickstown, O., will conduct the funeral services.
