  • Notes
    • Sudden Death

A young girl named Rosetta Dennis, daughter of the late Thos. Dennis of this town, died very suddenly in Galt on Sunday evening last. It appears that for some time past the deceased had not been strong, and that some weeks ago she went to her brother's (who lives not far from Stratford) in the hope that the change might do her good. For some time her letters spoke of an improvement in her health, but in the last she again complained of feeling worse, and said she would like to come home. Her mother at home expected that she would again write before returning, but this she did not do; and on Saturday evening she arrived in Galt by the G.T.R. train from Berlin. On reaching her mother's house on Chapman street she refused to take any refreshment, and said that she had better go to bed at once, as she felt very unwell. On Sunday morning she was found to be unconscious, and medical aid was sought; but all efforts to restore her to consciousness were in vain, and she passed away that evening. A post-mortem examination revealed the fact that a blood-vessel had burst in the brain. The deceased was in the 16th year of her age, and is spoken of as having been a bright, intelligent girl.
