- DEATH CLAIMS OLD RESIDENT
Passing of Mrs Henry Knipfel After 63 Years in Berlin.
At five o'clock this morning death removed from Berlin one who has grown up with the town since its early days having lived here for the past sixty-three years in the person of Mrs. Henry Knipfel aged eight-three
Carolina Dorothy Eigler was born in Germany coming to Canada and to Berlin at the age of twenty years One year later she was united in marriage to the late Mr. Henry Knipfel who predeceased her about thirty seven years ago. The young couple lived near Berlin on a farm until ten years after his decease when Mrs. Knipfel removed to Berlin, where her home has since been made.
An invalid for the past three years due to the ailments and weaknesses coincident with her great age deceased had always been the most patient of sufferers bearing all ills with the cheerfulness that characterised her through life .The faithful mother of eight children six of whom survive to mourn the loss of a beloved parent. Her whole life was one of service for them while as a neighbor and friend many live to testify to her excellent and endearing qualities. She had a tenacious memory delighting in relating incidents of the early days of Berlin making a chat with her of a most entertaining character. She had been a member of the Evangelical Church of this town since her arrival from Germany.
A husband and two children predeceased her also a sister Mrs Distlemeyer who came to Berlin at the same time living the remainder of her life here The following children survive her - John and Samuel in Missouri, Mrs. Henry Seibert Canada Kansas and Noah and David in Berlin Thirty-eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
