- BANNICK, WILLIAM. Son of Charles and Eliza Bannick, natives of Germany, and to whom were born six children: Willlam, the subject of this sketch, was born April 26, 1855; John, Charles, Philip, died by drowning in a river in Canada when 32 years old; Henry was killed by a tree falling on him in Canada; Menno. Married Eliza Newstead, daughter of John and Martha Newstead, natives of England, and to whom were born eight children: John, born Aug. 2, 1851; Mary Jane, born July 4, 1853; Eliza, born June 6, 1855; Thomas, born May 9, 1857; Martha, born Jan. 17, 1859; William, born Jan. 29, 1861; Nathaniel, born Jan. 23, 1863; Benjamin, born April 21, 1865, and died at age of 26 and buried in Canada. They were married Feb. 17, 1877, in Canada. There are six children: Jemima, born June 13, 1878; Alice, born May 25, 1880; William, born June 13, 1882; Edward and Thomas, twins, born April 30, 1891; Harold Roy, born Jan. 14, 1896; Howard Alvin, born Sept. 20, 1898. All but Thomas are living, he dying at age of 11 years, and is buried in Pigeon cemetery. They have two fine houses, large barns and a fine productive farm.

FORMER WELL KNOWN WINSOR TOWNSHIP MAN DIES
William Bannick passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Wolfe Saturday morning following a short illness.
Mr. Bannick was born in Rochester, New York on April 26, 1855. When a child he went with his parents to Breslau, Ontario. In 1896 he settled on a farm in Winsor township. For a number of years he held the office of highway commissioner of Winsor township.
In 1878 Mr. Bannick was united in marriage with Eliza Newstead who preceded him in death five years ago.
He leaves to mourn his loss two daughters, Mrs. Frank Wolfe of Owendale and Mrs. Carl Wolfe of Gagetown; three sons, Edward of Port Hope, Howard of Elkton and William of Gagetown; fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. D. Hayes at the Frank Wolfe home Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the Pigeon cemetery.
