- MRS. C.H. PERLEY DEAD
Cable from London Brings Sad News to Ottawa.
Mrs. George H. Perley, of 233 Metcalfe street, wife of the member of parliament for Argenteuil county, died suddenly in London this morning. The news was received in Mr. Perley's office by cable but no details were given. Mr. and Mrs. Perley left on an European tour about six weeks ago, accompanied by their daughter, Miss Ethel and were expected to return shortly. Mrs. Perley had been in delicate health for some time and had on this account spent the last few winters in the south. The trip to Europe was also planned for the benefit of her health.
The late Mrs. Perley a daughter of Judge and Mrs. Bowlby, Berlin, Ont., and came to Ottawa as a bride in 1886. Miss Ethel Perley is her only daughter. She had for some time taken a very prominent part in the social life of the Capital and was an enthusiastic member of the Ottawa Ladies Golf club. As genial hostess she was unexcelled and her bright and vivacious disposition made her sincere and true friends where ever she went.
She almost invariably accompanied Mr. Perley at his political picnics and similar events and her cheery nature and cordial disposition did much to enhance him popularity, In religion she was member of Grace Anglican church and she took an active Interest in church and charitable work.
