Apr. 3, 1974; both buried Bethesda Cemetery, Maryborough Tp., Wellington Co.; 5 children (see "Thru the Years....Maryborough Township Vol. II, 1851-1998" Pg.539 re: 12 McGovern St., Moorefield, owned since 1912: "In 1911 Levi G.Wildfang, with his wife Sarah (nee Filsinger) and 2 small children B. Gladys and Vera, moved from Amberley to Moorefield to own and operate a 'General Store'. After a short time, he moved across from Fear's corner to where Barry Gourlay is located (38 McGivern St.).
This house was vacant when the Wildfangs purchased it. Vera Hoover understands it was built to pay a doctor's bill. The family grew...The children went to the Moorefield Village School and the United Church.
In 1918, an epidemic of flu swept the country and Levi, then 34 years old, died; leaving his wife Sarah with 5 small children to raise and educate. Gladys and Vera became teachers; Lenore became a nurse; Carl worked with the OPP and Earle had an army career in RCR in London as a Major.
Vera taught in the Village School 1929-1934 with 40 pupils, eight grades and Departmental Exams for Entrance to High School. Vera married Frederick G. Hoover (1904-1971) and they had 3 children: Diane (b.1941) who married Ron Lindsay; Erlene (b.1945); and Tony (b.1948) who married Heather (nee Whitehead). Diane is a Reg. N. who practices therapeutic touch.
Improvements were added as times changed. For example, electricity replaced oil lamps, heating from wood (cooking stove), furnace changed from coal to oil; bathroom added; cupboards and kitchen changed (Ledru Beisel in charge), and Grant Morgan renovated the back kitchen to a TVroom. Last year when the gas line was put through in this area, a gasfireplace was added to this room. A garage replaced the barn.") and also "The Wildfang Family of North America"
