    • HUBBARD, Kirsten Elisabeth (nee Poder) Passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with lung cancer on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the age of 72. Beloved wife of John (Jack) Beaumont Hubbard (deceased 2004) with whom she was passionately in love. Loving mother of Susanna Hubbard Krimmer (Herald); Anna Marie Hubbard-Kitching (Richard); Lise Hubbard-Muir (Stuart); Karen Hubbard (Ryan Spencer). Cherished grandmother (mormor) of Margaret (Peggy), Bronwyn and Cameron. Predeceased by her parents Frida (nee Jensen) and Thorvald Poder. Kirsten will be greatly missed by her Danish family and her dear friend Luanne Moser. Kirsten was born on November 29, 1937 and raised in Aalborg, Denmark. She possessed numerous talents and interests and was a beauty pageant winner, former Miss Denmark and professional model; award-winning competitive ballroom dancer and gymnast; accomplished choreographer, ballet dancer; gardener; sketch artist, painter and embroidery artist. She spoke several languages fluently, an advantage in the many moves she and Jack had as part of R.C.A.F. life and in their extensive travels. Kirsten was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She will be remembered as a caring person and a true lady. The family will receive friends at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home and Cremation Centre , 621 King Street W., Kitchener on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be celebrated at Church of the Holy Saviour, 33 Allen Street, Waterloo on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow at the church. Private family burial. Memorial donations to The War Amps, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, or Church of the Holy Saviour, Waterloo as expressions of sympathy would be greatly appreciated. www.ratzbechtelfuneralhome.com
