  MRS. JANET GUTHRIE SIMONS. The following from the Winnipeg Free Press tells of the death in Winnipeg of Mrs. Janet Guthrie Simons for many years a former resident of Berlin. "The death occurred on Wednesday, Dec. 18. at her residence, 222 Lipton street, of Mrs. Janet Guthrie Simons, widow of the late N. F. Simons of Preston, Ont., who predeceased her by 35 years. Mrs. Simons, who was an old resident of Winnipeg, and in her 85th year, will be greatly missed by her family and a large circle of friends. She was noted for her patience in illness and beautiful Christian character and in more active days took much interest in church and other charitable coming works. She was born in Scotland, coming to Canada in her youth, her husband being of U. E. loyalist descent and a prominent citizen of Preston and Berlin. Five sons besides her grandchildren, survive her. The funeral, which took place from her late residence yesterday, was conducted by Rev. D. M. Solandt, of Knox church. The pallbearers were J. C. Falls, Wm. Frank, J. A. Grundy and J. A. T.
