    • A. G. SIMONS, PRINTING TRADE PIONEER, DIES

      Archibald Guthrie Simons, 65. veteran printer in the service of the Winnipeg Free Press, died suddenly Sunday evening at his residence, Regal ave., St. Vital. He had apparently been in good health few minutes previous to the fatal seizure.

      A native of Kitchener, Ont., Mr. Simons came West in 1888, and the following year joined the Free Press. He had been on staff of the newspaper ever since, with the exception of short period which he spent farming north of Winnipeg, about 20 years ago.

      Always a popular member of his profession he is mourned by very large circle of friends and fellow employees.

      Mr. Simons is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertha Paton Simone, whom he married in 1899: three sons -John, Allan and Archie, jr., and two daughters - Jean Wilcox and Mrs. Helen Anderson, all of Winnipeg. He is also survived by three brothers, Edward. of Selkirk, Man., and John and James, both of Victoria B.C, The funeral will be held at p.m., Tuesday, from the residence to St. John's cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the A. B. Gardiner funeral home.
