  Gideon Bechtel Gideon Bechtel, 79, of Baden, died yesterday at his home after a long illness. He was formerly manager of the Shirk and Snider Flour Mill at Baden. He was born July 27, 1871, in Wilmot Township, For 23 years he was school superintendent. He was a member of the Wilmot Centre Evangelical Church. His wife, the former Emma Shirk, died July 21, 1943. He is survived by three sons, Orton and Laroyd, both of Kitchener and Clayton P., of Bridgeport; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Alice) Ashcroft, Owen Sound; Miss Edna Bechtel of Baden; and two grandchildren. A daughter, Irene, predeceased him on Nov. 12, 1932. Private funeral service will be held Thursday, 2 p.m., at his residence, with public service in Wilmot Centre Evangelical Church at 2: 30 p.m. Rev. C: R. Kauth, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener. The body is resting at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until 10 a.m., Wednesday, when removal will be made in the home in Baden.
