Notes |
- Mrs. Ann Roney
At the advanced age of 83 years Mrs. Ann Roney, relict of the late Samuel Roney, passed peacefully away at her home, lot 13, 5th line, east, Mono, on Friday night. For some weeks before her demise the late Mrs. Roney enjoyed rather better health than usual, but when retiring the Tuesday night before her death she was overtaken by a weak spell and required medical attention.
Dr. Dunning was called and for a time her condition seemed to improve, but a relapse followed and she sank rapidly, passing away the following Friday. Deceased was a daughter of the late Isaac Woolner and was born in East Garafraxa, coming to Mono over 32 years ago. She possessed all the endearing qualities, the warm-heartedness and kindly natures common to the first settlers, when a common bond of brotherhood bound all the members of the pioneer communities together. She was a true wife, a loving mother and an obliging neighbor and her death will be the cause of much regret. Her husband died less than two years ago.
The surviving members of the family are William of Souris, Man., Samuel, Isaac and Andrew, of Mono, Mrs. William Cockerill of Mono, Sarah at home. Abraham Woolner of Collingwood and William Woolner of Glencross are brothers and Mrs. Carr of Michigan is a sister. The funeral was delayed until yesterday afternoon in order for the eldest son, William, to arrive from Souris, but he did not get here in time for the burial. Interment took place at St. John's cemetery, Mono, the funeral being largely attended. Revs. Howard and McCallum conducted religious services at the house and grave. The pallbearers were Messrs. I. J. Murphy, George and Eben Woolner, James Roney, William Cockerill and Capt. I. Woolner of Collingwood. We sympathize with the bereaved family in their sorrow.
