    • MRS. MARGARET HOCKBURN

      Mrs. Margaret Duering, wife of Mr. Theodore Hockburn, passed away at the Berlin and Waterloo Hospital at 7.30 o'clock this morning. She had been ill since Easter of the present year.

      Margaret Duering was born in Hesse Darmstadt, Germany. October 23, 1851, and came to Canada with her parents when she was but four years old. They located in Waterloo. She attended school there, grew to womanhood, and was married October 17th, 1869, at Berlin, to Mr. Theodore Hockburn, who, with the seven children of this union, still survive her, and who mourn the loss of a loving wife and kind mother.

      The names of the children are George, William, Charles, Theodore. Mrs. Albert Ahrens, Miss Emma and Miss Veneta.

      She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters. The brothers are Messrs. Henry B. and George Duering of Waterloo; the sisters are Mrs. J Nahrgang of Waterloo, and Mrs L. Keating of Philadelphia.

      Mrs. Hockburn was aged 62 years, 10 months and 10 days.

      She was a very highly respected lady, and her passing away will call forth many warm tributes from her friends and neighbors.

      Mrs. Hoekburn was a lifelong member of New Jerusalem church. The funeral will be held on Saturday afternn at 2 o'clock from the family residence, 129 Walter street, to the New Jerusalem Church for service, and from thence to Mount Hope cemetery for interment.
