Notes - SCHLACTER, Joseph Gerald "Joe" Peacefully at Heritage House, St. Jacob's on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the age of 95. Beloved husband of Ruth (nee Dunnington) of 68 years. Special uncle of James (Tracey) Dobney of BC and Jane (Don) Haffner of Waterloo. Also sadly missed by his many other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Albert, John, Genevieve and Rita. Joe was a proud Veteran of The Second World War serving with The Canadian Navy on a mine sweeper. After the war, Joe worked as a Stationary Engineer throughout Southern Ontario. His positive attitude will be missed by all. Family and friends will be received at Robert Ruggle Funeral Home , 617 King St. N., Waterloo on Saturday, November 29, 2014 for a memorial reception from 12 noon - 3 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Interment in Parkview Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund would be appreciated by the family and may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at 519-888-7700.
