- The death occurred at Otterville Monday morning of Arnold Marchand in his 83rd year. Mr. Marchand had lived in Otterville with his daughter. Mrs. Fred Church, for the past 20 years, had been in failing health for some time and has been confined to his bed for the past two years.\\
Born in Loveresse, Switzerland Mr. Marchand learned the watch making business there, coming to Canada when he was 18 years of age, and had spent practically all his life in the jewelry business having followed his profession at Kitchener, Port Elgin, Exeter, Waterford, Tottenham and Otterville. He was twice married. His first wife, Martha Bourquin died at Port Elgin when his two eldest daughters were small, and his second wife, Emma Weierheiser, died in 1924 while he was living at Waterford. He was a member of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge at Exeter, and also been a member of the I.O.O.F lodge at Port Elgin.
He is survived by four daughters and one son, Mrs. C. H. Sanders (Ida), London; Mrs. Earl Kitchen (Lillian), Waterford; Mrs Gordon Maier (Mildred), Kitchener; Mrs. Fred Church (Florence), Otterville, and Edwin Marchand of Waterford. He also leaves seven grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Henry McDonald of Buffalo.The funeral service was held yesterday at two o'clock from the Addison Funeral Home in Otterville. Interment was made in Greenwood Cemetery, Waterford.
