- BANNATYNE, ALEXANDER
Mr. Bannatyne, a blacksmith who did business for a number of years near Puslinch Post Office, and for the last twenty years, has been farming, died at his home, lot 9, concession 14, East Flamborough on Tuesday evening, the 10th May, 1900, aged 75 years. He was a native of Argyleshire, Scotland, who emigrated to this country about the year 1838(7). He was a well known and much respected neighbour. Quiet and reserved in his manner, he won the esteem of all those who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. He was ever regarded as a thoroughly honest and upright man. In politics, he was a staunch Conservative and a great admirer of the late Sir John A. MacDonald. His wife died thirteen years ago. He leaves one son and three daughters: Hector, on the homestead; Mrs. William Smith of Toronto; Mrs. James Kerr of North Dumfries; and Mrs. Charles Tief Jr. of East Flamborough. His body was interred in Crown Cemetery, Morriston.

-Information from the transcription of Crown Cemetery: Children were Hector (1854-1902); Donald Alexander, died June 21, 1862, aged 4years and 10 months; Duncan (1863-1883); Donald Alexander (1866- 1886); and Elizabeth (1869-1926).
