Notes |
- Rev. Menno Wing, "was born near Baden, Ontario, September 6th, 1852. His younger days were spent on the farm and in attending the public schools at Baden where he received his first education. At sixteen years of age he went to Berlin where he was engaged in the mercantile business with Isaac Hoffman for nearly six years. Realizing the necessity of a better education he entered the North Western College at Naperville, Illinois, where he spent over four years in hard study. His purpose was to give his life to the Christian ministry. Accordingly he entered the Canadian Conference of the Evangelical Association in 1878. He has served in said church regularly ever since, serving a number of congregations, when after ten years of service he was elected presiding elder which position he now holds for nearly two terms or eight years. He has been appointed three times as delegate to the General Conference, represented his conference for nine years as trustee of the N. W. College at Naperville, Illinois, and Union Biblical Institute, also at two annual sessions of the General Missionary Board of his church. For the last seven years he has again resided in the town of Berlin, Ontario. In addition to his district labors he has for the past eight years edited a religious monthly known as the 'Evangeliums Bote'. On August 12th, 1880, he was married to Hannah Jane, daughter of Henry and Anne (Frick) Kletzing. She was born June 25th, 1857. To them is born a family of nine children".
