Notes |
- LAKE, ANDREW DOUGLAS, of Branchton, first comes to notice in the Dumfries Reformer of April 10, 1884:
In the published list of prize takers at the recent examination at Trinity Medical School we observe that Mr. Andrew Douglas Lake, son of Thomas Lake, Esq., N. Dumfries, was awarded a certificate of honor and the Fellowship Diploma.
The issue of May 15th. said that he had decided to settle in Drumbo, and had left for that place. A year later a marriage announcement gave his location as Bright.
The Reformer quoted the Plattsville Echo on October 3. 1889 to the effect that he was going to New York for a post graduate course, and by December 12th. he was on the way to Kalamazoo, Mich. On March 1881 he left for a postgraduate course in Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat in Annarbor, and returned to Kalamazoo by the next February.
By September 1907 he was in Galt, with his office in the Commercial Block. His card appeared in the February 2, 1911 issue of the Weekly Reformer:
Dr. Lake, Physician and Surgeon, Licentiate of College of P. & S. Ontario, Michigan and California. Post Graduate of University of Michigan, New York and Chicago. Late Clinical Assistant Royal London Opthalmic (sic) Golden Square and Brompton Hospital London England. Office Scott's Block. Calls promptly answered.
By 1915 he was in Acton, and by 1920 the College of Physicians and Surgeons recorded his death, although they were uncertain of the date.

Dr. Lake has been in Kalamazoo many years, having come here from Galt. Ontario. He was graduated from Toronto university. When he took up his profession in Kalamazoo he be came a specialist on eye, ear, nose and throat diseases and also had a large general practice.
At one time Dr. Lake was considered one of the leading physicians. He is an expert with the X-ray machine. He has held positions on state and government examining boards for the eye, car, nose and throat.
Dr. Lako is interested in the McKeo Drug company, corner Burdick and Water streets.
Relatives and friends of Dr. Late expect that he will improve rapidly at the asylum and will no doubt be, ablo to leave the institution in a few months.
