    • Ross Lishman, ex-owner of bus line, dies at 62

Ross Lishman of 1941 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, former president and partner of Lishman Coach Lines Ltd., died Monday at Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital. He was 62. Ross and his brother Nelles owned Lishman Coach Lines from 1949 until 1974 when it merged with two other companies and became United Trails Inc. Ross Lishman became secretary-treasurer of United Trails and served until Dec. 31, 1978, although he continued as an employee until January 1980. Lishman was general manager of Lishman Investments Ltd., Kitchener, a family company which owned properties in the Twin Cities. His father, Arthur, began a parcel and freight delivery service between Cayuga and Hamilton. After selling that business, Arthur Lishman moved to Elmira in 1928 and operated a line to Kitchener. The company bought truck chassis and made its own vehicles until 1937. The business later moved to Kitchener and expanded to include 25 highway coaches, 45 airport limousines and 45 school buses. Lishman is survived by his wife, two sons, one daughter, three brothers and two sisters. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home and Chapel in Kitchener.
