- CHALMERS, William "Bill" - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Chalmers, on Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer, Bill Chalmers, in his 56th year of RR 1, West Montrose. Dear son of Mabel (Chamberlain) Chalmers of Elmira and the late John L. Chalmers (Oct. 2001). Beloved husband of Betty Chalmers; loving father of Charlene and James Brubacher of Fergus, Gerry and Heidi of Elmira and step-father of Megan Geerlinks and Jessa Geerlinks, both of RR 1, West Montrose. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Cody, Jordan, Matthew and Kaitlyn Brubacher, Keaton and Sydney Chalmers. Brother of Julia and Lloyd Eby, Irene and Tom Murray, June and Wayne Martin, Florence and Ed Holterman, Ken and Judy Chalmers, all of Elmira. Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by his niece, Annette Eby. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, this evening (Wednesday) from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, transfer will be made to Emmanuel Missionary Church, Elmira for funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. George Grierson officiating, followed by interment in West Montrose United Cemetery. In his memory, donations to Hope Spring Cancer Support Centre would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. The family takes comfort in that Bill is resting safely in the arms of his Lord Jesus.
