Notes |
- Jacksch: On Thursday last, as Mr. Jos. H. Kramer, of Wellesley, was on his way home from Waterloo Village, he discovered a man hanging by the neck from the limb of a fallen tree, a short distance in Mr. Geo. Hollinger's bush near Heidelberg. On making the fact known to John Meyer, Esq. and others in the vicinity, Dr. Pipe, Coroner, was immediately sent for, who proceeded, next day, to hold an inquest on the body. It was found upon enquiry that the unfortunate man was a German by the name of John Christian Jacksch, about 60 years of age, and quite recently from Germany. His wife died before he came to this Country, and his only son is now living in St. Clemens. The evidence taken at the inquest did not furnish any particular reason why he hung himself. The verdict found by the Jury was that "John Christian Jacksch came to his death by his own act, by hanging himself from the branch of a fallen tree in Geo. Hollinger's bush.
