    • Death from sunstroke: From the Paris Transcript we learn that Mrs. Catherine Rose of Ayr, better known as "Granny Rose", died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Crumpback, of Ayr, on Tuesday morning, 8th inst., at the ripe age of 91 years, "Granny" was the oldest person in the village, and one of the oldest residents. She came originally from Nairn, near Inverness, Scotland, and was a remarkably hale and hearty old lady, having had little or no sickness during her long life. On the 9th of July, she visited at McGeorge's, and fell down there, from what was supposed to be the effects of sunstroke. She was taken home and has been confined to her bed from the effect thereof, ever since that time, and never rallied. Her funeral took place on Wednesday after-noon to the old burying ground east of Ayr and was very respectfully attended.
