Notes |
- "Too Much Lager Beer". A rather singular affair occurred here lately. Dr. Senghas, a well known physician in Dundee, whose practice consists in drinking "lagerbeer", went home intoxicated, and soon raised a quarrel with his "frau". He seized a loaded revolver and fired it off and threatened dire vengeance.
His wife soon gave the alarm and the constable proceeded to the place. The doctor ran, but the constable ran faster, as the doctor is rather corpulent. The doctor unfortunately fell and was soon overtaken. He was taken before the magistrate, and bound over to keep the peace. He has since left the place and it is thought he has taken up his abode in Formosa, county of Bruce.

SUICIDE
Dr. Senghas, of St. Clair, Drowns Himself,
MARINE CITY. June 28.-[Special.] - The body of Dr. L. O. Senzhas, of this city, was discovered floating in the river near the Toledo Salt Company's block this morning. He was seen in his old haunts last evening, and undoubtedly committed suicide by jumping off a dock, he has frequently threatened to, Dr. Senghas was a native of Germany 50 years old, and formerly a man of quite brilliant parts, but for the last few years liquor had rained such control over him that he had gradually lost all of his practice. He has a son sailing, and has a wife from whom he had lived separate for the past few years. She resides at Brantford.
