- Bryce Girvan was born in the Parish of Cunnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, on Jan. 1, 1834, and died Jan. 29, 1919, aged 85 years and 28 days. He came to Galt, Canada, in 1862. where he settled on a farm with his father. He came to Kansas first in 1878, where he has spent a large part of the time since. He was married in Chicago, ill., In 1880, to Mrs. Alice O'Grady. He was a millright by trade and up until the last seven or eight years worked actively count of his age.
He has made his home for several years with Mr. and Mrs.. John Grove and died at their home. On January 25 he had a paralytic stroke and never rallied and he died at 2 o'clock Wednesday morning. One infant son preceded him In death. His wife survives him. Of a family of eleven children, of which he was the oldest, two sisters are yet living; one residing in Chicago. Ill., and one in Portpatrick, Scotland. He leaves besides. a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the home of John Grove, Rev. John Sheets having them In charge and be was buried In Bethel cemetery.
