AMONG THE BRIDES - Haid - Raines
St Mary's Church was the scene of a pretty wedding at 9 o'clock this morning, when Miss Edith Raines, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Raines, 138 Charon Street, became the bride of Mr. Urban Haid, son of Mr. & Mrs. J. Haid, 236 Louisa Street. Rev. M.S. Hinsperger performed the ceremony.
The bride was charming in a dress of peach silverene and gold georgette with hat to match, and gold brocaded slippers. She carried a shower bouquet of butterfly roses, ferns and lily of the valley. The bridesmaid, Miss Anne Raines, sister of the bride, wore silver silverene with shoes to match and a large French hat. She carried columbia roses. the groom was supported by Mr. Roy Foster.
After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride. The house being prettily decorated in a colour scheme of pink and white flowers. About 50 guests attended the wedding. Many handsome and usefull gifts were received by the young couple. The groom's gift to the bride was a pearl rosary, to the bridesmaid a silver mesh bag and to the best man a fountain pen.
The happy young couple leave on the evening train for Toronto and points east. The bride is travelling in a dress of blue and grey taffeta with hat and shoes to match. On their return, they will take up residence in their new home 292 Wilmot St.

HAID, Edith (nee Raines) - Passed away peacefully, at the Village of Winston Park, on Wednesday, October 13, 2004, at the age of 101. Beloved wife of the late Urban G. Haid (1975). Loving mother of Jean Lippert and her husband Don of Kitchener, Dolores Tigani of Stratford, Ruth Cerant and her husband Ed of Kitchener, Ralph Haid and his wife, Nancy of Fergus and Karen Haid and her husband, Gerry Bruckman of Mannheim. Proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Edith will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother and father, Joseph and Emma Raines; her brother, George Raines; five sisters, Louise Bauer, Lucy Berry, Esther (Martin) Howarth, Anne Golding and Josephine Austin and also by one son-in-law, Dom. Edith was a member of the Catholic Women's League for over 25 years and she also volunteered for the Canadian Red Cross during the Second World War. Edith's family will receive friends and relatives at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 621 King St. W., Kitchener today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Family prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 9: 30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen St. E., Waterloo at 10 a.m. Vigil prayers will take place at the funeral home tonight (Friday) at 8: 45 p.m. Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Kitchener. Special thanks from the Haid family to all the staff at Winston Park for their loving care and compassion for our mom.
