- CORP. HESSENAUER WOUNDED IN LEGS
A postal card has been received by Mr. and Mrs. John Hessenaur, of this city, from their son, Corp. Clarence Hessenaur, who had been reported as having been taken as a prisoner in September. The card is addressed from Lazarett, Ohrdruf, Langensalza. Germany, and is as follows:
Dear Father and Mother: -
This is just a few lines to let you know that I am getting along all right. No doubt you will have heard by now that I was wounded and taken prisoner. I was wounded in the right hip and in the right elbow, and on account of the bullet touching the nerves I have lost the use of my legs and arm, for the time being, of course, It will be all right as soon as the nerves heal.
We are allowed to write two letters per week and a card every Sunday.
Hoping this finds you well, I remain, Your loving son, CLARENCE.
