  MCKELLAR, ANGUS At the ripe old age of 78 years, another Beverly pioneer passed away on Monday, June 29, 1908, Mr. McKellar of Valens yielded up his spirit after a brief illness. He was born in Scotland and came to Canada when 18 years of age. He settled on a farm up Mill Creek, which he occupied for some years, moving to the present farm at Valens thirty-six years ago. His wife predeceased him some ten years ago. Possessing all the attributes of a sturdy Scottish ancestry, Mr. McKellar was naturally successful in life. His integrity of purpose and genial manner made him a host of friends. He was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church at Kirkwall. One son and two daughters survive: Archibald on the homestead; Mrs. (Dr. ) Mott of Akron, NY: and Mrs. Hall of St. Mary's. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon to Kirkwall Cemetery. -Information from the marriage certificate: Born in 1830 in Scotland, son of Archibald McKellar and Janet McLean, he married Mary Ferguson on Sept. 15, 1865. -Information from the birth certificate of Ann Smith McKellar: Born Sept. 17, 1872, daughter of Angus McKellar and Mary Ferguson. -Information from marriage certificate of Annie McKellar: Bom in Beverly, c. 1873, married Merton Hall of Hamburg.
