- IRVING, Robert - 1916-2007. Robert Irving was a quiet man. If he didn't say much, he loved and cared for his late companion, Betty Pordage and before her, his first wife, Ida. He came to Canada with his parents from Yorkshire England. He was proud of having served his country with Toronto's Royal Regiment of Canada throughout the Second World War - he survived Dieppe - and of his service with Canada Post. He loved his Muskoka Cottage and later his Florida retreat which he and Betty shared with others. Missed by his sister, Marjorie McLellan; nieces, Amanda, Ann, David and Robert of Oakville and his nephew, Glen Irving (Lea-Ann) of Kanata. Lynne and Harold Russell of Kitchener shared his last years. Friends at Morningside, New Hamburg and the Russell, Pordage and Gordon families will miss this gentle man. Robert passed away in his 92nd year on November 20 at Grand River Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Private family interment will take place. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society may be made by calling the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 519-749-8467. Visit www.henrywalser.com for Robert's memorial.
