- Joan NABERT, -Joan passed away quietly with her family at her side on Sunday, November 20, 2005 at Grand River Hospital, Freeport Health Centre, Kitchener. Joan resided in New Hamburg. She was born 77 years ago in Mimico and was the daughter of the late William and Lavina (Kropf) Pauli. Beloved wife of the late E. Edwin Nabert who predeceased her in 1981. Loving mother of Janice and Michael Peery of Knightdale, North Carolina, Wendy and Rob Williams of Ottawa, Jo- Ann and David Shepherd of Atlanta, Georgia, and Patricia and David Bruce of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by her grandchildren, John and Jessica Peery, Jamie and Ahsha Williams, Chelsea Shepherd, Emma and Aidan Bruce. Also remembered by her sisters, Patsy Brenner of Cambridge, Grace and Grant McGregor of New Hamburg; sisters-in-law, Bette Pauli Gerow of Mississauga, Martha Wagner of Kitchener and Helen Budd of London. Joan was predeceased by her sisters, May and Clayton Wagner, Barbara and Emerson Honderich; brothers, William Pauli, Karl and Betty Pauli and brother-in-law, Robert Brenner. Joan was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hamburg. She was a Lutheran Missionary in India from 1956 until 1992 where she co-founded MESH, an international organization to provide economic rehabilitation of leprosy communities. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends may call at Trinity Lutheran Church, Church Street, New Hamburg on Thursday, November 24, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Joan's life will take place on Friday, November 25, 2005 at the church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Andre Lavergne officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Canadian Lutheran World Relief for MESH, 1080 Kingsbury Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2P 1W5. Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, New Hamburg assisted with the arrangements.
