    • WINTERHALT, Elmer Cyril - Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Sunnyside Home, Kitchener, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of 57 years to Marcella "Marcie" (nee Boppre). Dear father of Jamie Winterhalt and his wife Elinor of Montreal, Quebec, Mary Klaassen of Cambridge, and Cathy Kaufman and her husband Jim of Kitchener. Lovingly remembered by six grandchildren, Derek (Angela), Andrew, Alex, Amanda, Dan and Lesley. Survived by one sister, Joyce Junker of Ancaster. Predeceased by his parents, August and Teresa Winterhalt; two brothers, Patrick and Gordon Winterhalt and one sister, Marie Legge. Elmer was born in Preston and had been a lifelong resident of the area. He was a Navy Veteran of the Second World War, a member of St. Clement's RC Church, 3rd and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and a 60 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Preston Branch 126. He was the owner/operator of Preston Cartage which he established shortly after returning from Military Service. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Clement's RC Church, 745 Duke Street, Cambridge on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 10: 30 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Special thank you to all the staff at Three Bridges (Sunnyside Home) for all their loving care.
