    • Spanish-American War Veteran. Dies at Age 92

      Charles Harnack, one of two remaining Spanish - American War veterans living in Owosso, died Monday evening in Ann Arbor Veterans Hospital. He was 92.

      Mr. Harnack served with Co. G, 33rd Michigan Regiment of the 2nd Michigan Infantry. Co. G. was made up of Owosso men and served in Cuba. After the brief war, Harnack returned to Owosso and his job with the old Owosso Manufacturing Co. where he became a fireman. His death leaves Thomas Campbell as the only Owosso resident who served in that war.

      Funeral services are to be held AL 10.30 a.m. Thursday at Jennings-Lyons Chapel with Dr. Don A. Morris officiating. Burial is to be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

      Mr. Harnack was born Oct 12, 1873 in Cleveland. Ohio. the son of Carl and Augusta Harnack and came to Owosso as a young man. He had lived at 619 N. Sliawassee St. for many years.

      He married Elnora Fox in Owosso on Nov. 19, 1900 and was a member of the First Methodist Church.

      His only survivors are three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His wife died in 1960 and his only son, Arthur, died in 1961,
