- MARTIN, Gladys (Koch) On June 20, 2010 in her 95th year her journey has ended in a glorious eternity. A resident of St. Jacobs for 70 years, she spent the last two years at Leisureworld in Elmira. On June 1, 1938 she married Norman B. Martin who predeceased her in 2001. Their six children are: Winston and Betty Ann of Stratford, Raymond and Elinor of Elmira, Isabel and Jim Bauman of Elmira, Bernice Brubacher (Richard 2000) of St. Jacobs, Elaine and Clair Stoltzfus of Paisley, and Edith and Mark Edmiston of Wiarton. She is also lovingly remembered by 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Gladys was born August 9, 1915 to Charles Koch and Minerva Swartz. She is survived by two sisters-in-law: Martha Koch (Roy 2010) of Goshen, Indiana, and Alice Koch (Lester 1993) of New Hamburg, and brothers and sisters-in-law: Oscar and Delores Martin of St. Jacobs, Lena Schmitt of Waterloo, and Almeda Schiedel of Stratford. Seven brothers predeceased her: Stanley 1941, Lester 1993, Orton 2001, Phares 2000, Oliver 2008, Roy (June 12, 2010), Charles 1990, also two sisters: Mabel 1999 (Herb Kufske), and Vera 1989 (Nelson Snyder). The family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home in Elmira on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church from 10 a.m. until the funeral service time of 11 a.m. with Pastors Mark Diller Harder and Kevin Derksen officiating. Interment will follow in St. Jacobs Mennonite Church Cemetery across from where she was born. The family wishes to express thanks to Leisureworld staff for the loving care given to mother.
