    • Benjamin Shuh, "was born November 15th, 1815. In 1824 he came to Canada with his parents and worked for old Abraham Kolb for one year, then he went to Tobias Kolb's. After being at the latter place for some time he went to Preston where he engaged himself to Joseph Erb, proprietor of the Cambridge Mills. Here he remained eight years in all. He was one year with Samuel Bowman of Blair. On December 4th, 1849, he was married to Leah, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Wagner) Bergey. She was born January 24th, 1824, and when a mere infant she was adopted by old David Shantz who resided on the east end of lot No. 1, German Company's Tract, Waterloo County, where she was raised and still resides with her son, David. Here Mr. Shuh died January 21st, 1892. Their family consisted of three children" 1a
