HORVATH, James "Jim" John Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and his three daughters, in Cambridge, Ontario on Friday, October 20th at the age of 87. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary, his daughters Mary (Nick), Helen (Michael) and Elizabeth (John), and grandchildren Michael Nemeth (Lindsay), David Nemeth (Gillian), and Emily, Elain and Stephen Sloan. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother Leslie Horvath (Joan), many nieces, nephews, and extended family Amber, Dennis, Mike, Amanda and family. He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Tari and his brother Gerry Horvath. Jim was born on July 25, 1930 in Egyhazasradoc, Hungary to Joseph and Elizabeth Horvath. Jim came to Canada to start a better life in 1949 where he met and then married the love of his life Mary, on October 22, 1955. Jim passed away 2 days short of their 62nd wedding anniversary. Together they built, owned and operated; The Matador Lounge and Steakhouse, Horvath Sand and Gravel, and then went on to design, build and operate the Grand Valley Golf and Country Club. With his energy, vision, persistence, hard work and his loving supportive wife always at his side - he truly exceeded his goals and was extremely proud of his many accomplishments. He was a true entrepreneur in every sense of the word. Jim loved to travel and spend time with his family. His family was always foremost and closest to his heart. He will always be remembered for his kindness to all and his generosity. Visitation will take place at the T. Little Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 223 Main Street, Cambridge (519-623-1290) on Tuesday, October 24th from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 210 South Street, Cambridge on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount View Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the St. Ambrose Church Building Fund would be appreciated by his family. Online condolences may be made at www.tlittlefuneralhome.com.
