      PRESTON, Sept. 8.-A resident of the Blair district for the past 50 years, John R. Naismith, 83, died at his home in Blair at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon after an illness of 13 years. Deceased was a farmer.

      Born in the Township of Vaughan. York county, Mr. Naismith lived in Freeport for 17 years and in Blair for the past 29 years. In May this year he and Mrs. Naismith marked their golden wedding anniversary. Deceased was a member of Knox Presbyterian church, Preston.

      Surviving is his widow. Leah Wismer. Blair, a son. John W. Naismith, Blair, and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Naismith, Woodbridge, Ont.

      Remains are resting at his home in Blair where funeral service will take place on. Tuesday at 2.30. Interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
